ECA performs Phase 2 environmental site assessments in a time / cost efficient manner. CLIENT:
Karuk Tribe of California
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Prepared Workplan containing a Conceptual Site Model and Sampling and Analysis Plan regarding field reconnaisance and soil sampling of a 52-acre site that was one of the most productive placer gold mines in Northern California. Performed field sampling QA/QC, collected potentially mercury-contaminated soil samples, and submitted same to an EPA-certified laboratory for CAM-17 analysis. Prepared the AML Preliminary Assessment Report.
CLIENT:
Coleman Oil Company
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Performed soil sampling, utilizing Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ)-approved Multi-incremental Sampling Methodology that minimizes volatilization losses and eliminated inter-sample cross-contamination. Samples were properly preserved (methanol at 4 degrees Celsius) and strict chain-of-custody protocol was implemented. Prepared a Risk Evaluation Assessment and successfully secured a No Further Action status from IDEQ, on behalf of client.
CLIENT:
The Empirical Company
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Designed and performed a tight-line / saturation Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey of an active retail property, to determine the presence, if any, of buried 1950s-vintage underground storage tanks (USTs). Performed onsite instrument "calibration" with known onsite buried features, to establish reliable depth estimates. Directed drilling contractor in the strategic placement of soil borings, to confirm GPR interpretations. Successfully confirmed the absence of USTs at key locations having GPR anomalies solely attributable to an eroded bedrock surface. Performed soil sampling, as per best available practices that included the elimination of inter-sample cross-contamination, proper cooling of samples, and chain-of-custody protocol. Installed a temporary piezometer (well) with proper filter pack sand and developed well via repeated purges until conductivity, pH, and temperature parameters stabilized. Collected groundwater sample, following above protocol. Prepared final written report for this Phase 2 environmental assessment.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the removal of seven large underground storage tanks (USTs) - two 12,000 gallon tanks and five 6,000 gallon tanks. Performed all soil sampling and chain-of-custody procedures for this environmental assessment, as required by ADPC&E, the State regulatory agency. Constantly monitored site to ensure that field personnel and the surrounding public were not endangered by fugitive fuel emissions.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Field supervisor and on-site health and safety officer for two drilling crews regarding efforts to determine the extent of vertical and horizontal migration of fugitive volatile organic substances. Coordinated all sampling and chain-of-custody procedures as required by LDEQ (State regulatory agency), and coordinated all activities with facility representatives.
CLIENT: BASF
Chemical Corporation PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Performed geologic (soils) logging of deep borings, collected soil and groundwater samples, and supervised the installation of deep triple-cased 4-inch stainless-steel monitoring wells at locations along predicted edges of monochlorobenzene (MCB) and ethylenedichloride (EDC) contaminant plumes. Performed all sampling and chain-of-custody procedures as required by LDEQ.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the removal of two 6,000 gallon tanks. Performed all soil sampling and chain-of-custody procedures as required by the Washington Department of Ecology (DOE), the State regulatory agency. Constantly monitored site to ensure that field personnel and the surrounding public were not endangered by fugitive fuel emissions. Prepared and submitted final report for the environmental assessment.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the removal of petroleum contaminated soil (PCS) at two contaminated UST sites that had medium-sized (2,000 - 5,000 gallon capacity) tanks removed. Performed all soil sampling and chain-of-custody procedures as required by WDOE. Utilized field-screening procedures to direct the removal of PCS from the two sites. Constantly monitored site to ensure that field personnel and the surrounding public were not endangered by fugitive fuel emissions. Prepared and submitted final report for the environmental assessment.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the removal of a heating oil consumptive use UST from a ridge-top Comm Site. Performed all soil sampling and chain-of-custody procedures as required by WDOE. Constantly monitored site to ensure that field personnel were not endangered by fugitive fuel emissions. Prepared and submitted final report.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Phase 2 environmental assessment - collected soil and groundwater samples and maintained chain-of-custody protocol as per the requirements of the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality (IDEQ), the State regulatory agency. Analyzed data, made recommendations; all presented within a final written report.
CLIENT:
Commercial Property Investor PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Reviewed previous environmental investigations and inspected property to identify existing or potential environmental compliance issues. Collected sediment samples from dry well catch basins and maintained chain-of-custody protocol as per IDEQ requirements. Discussed site status with IDEQ on behalf of client, recommended removal and replacement of two dry wells and oversaw field activities.
CLIENT:
Ceda Pine Veneer PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the drilling and installation of groundwater monitoring wells along the perimeter of a proposed inert landfilling area. Performed geologic logging of borings, measured stabilized groundwater surface, and prepared final groundwater flow map.
CLIENT: W
and W Company PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the drilling of exploratory borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells along the perimeter of a suspected plume of previously released product (fuel). Performed geologic logging of borings, collected soil and groundwater samples and maintained chain-of-custody protocol as per ADPC&E requirements.
CLIENT:
Ryder Truck Rentals PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the drilling of exploratory borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells along the perimeter of a suspected plume of previously released product (fuel). Performed geologic logging of borings, collected soil and groundwater samples and maintained chain-of-custody protocol as per LDEQ requirements.
CLIENT:
Chemical Waste Management, Inc. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Performed soil-logging and collected soil and groundwater samples to determine the vertical extent of hazardous, previously buried substances. Performed sample collection and chain-of-custody procedures as required by LDEQ. Closely supervised the drilling crew to ensure the safety and protection of their health.
CLIENT:
Exxon Corporation PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Supervised the installation of temporary piezometers within the soil-bermed basins surrounding the massive storage tanks at the refinery. Performed soil-logging and collected soil and groundwater samples to determine the vertical extent of hazardous substances. Performed sample collection and chain-of-custody procedures as required by LDEQ. Closely supervised the drilling crew to ensure the safety and protection of their health.
CLIENT:
Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Performed initial through final phase investigations for the presence of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) at the above compressor station locations. Some of the site studies required the collection, documentation and proper shipment (to an analytical laboratory) of no fewer than 500 soil samples. Soil sampling and chain-of-custody procedures were performed as per LDEQ protocols.
CLIENT:
Daisy Manufacturing Company PROJECT
DESCRIPTION: Performed geologic logging of the soils
underlying the facility. Drilling was targeted only to
